The food provided in the BA will be some freeze-dried and some made on the spot when possible.

  • The athlete must ensure that he has, from each BA, the quantities of water and food he needs to reach the next refuelling point.
Do not forget that, due to problems associated with the environment and type of event it may be necessary to wait for assistance for longer than expected. Therefore, the primary safety of the athletes depends basically on the quality of the materials/equipment that they have.

IMPORTANT

Remember that the race takes place in inhospitable places, of difficult access and many times with storms and strong winds. In these cases, it is not always possible to have hot food or even the Base, in case it is not possible for the transport to reach the place destined. Therefore, it is important to carry in your backpack and have in the drop bags, enough food and adequate to the effort you spend in the race.

CONTROL POSTS (PC)

PC – These posts, as the name indicates, are specifically for race control. However they are equipped with liquids (water and some of them may have tea and coffee).
They are not suitable for long rests.
The BA and PC will be located approximately every 30 km.
When registering, the athlete must mention if he has any dietary restrictions by email to the organisation.

The athlete must ensure that he/she has, from each BA or CP, the quantities of water and food that he/she needs to reach the next refuelling point.
Do not forget that, due to problems associated with the environment and type of event, it may be necessary to wait for assistance for longer than expected. Therefore, the primary safety of the athletes depends basically on the quality of the materials/equipment that they possess.

Important

Never take for granted that the Support Base or Control Post will have hot food or drinks, this will not always be possible to happen, there may always be unforeseen events, which may cause problems in the assembly of the Base.

10.1. TIME LIMIT (TIME BARRIER)

a) The hour barrier is the time announced by the organization to leave the support bases. An arrival before that time barrier does not allow you to stay longer than the announced time.

b) The race is a single stage, with a time limit of 54 hours. The average pace is 14,5min/km or 4,13km/hour.

c) The time barriers are calculated to allow the participants to reach the finish line in the imposed time limit, already accounting for possible stops (rest, refuelling, etc.). In order to be allowed to continue in the race, the participants must arrive and leave the base before the finish line, otherwise they will not be allowed to continue and, consequently, they will be disqualified.

d) For reasons of force majeure (weather and/or safety), the organization reserves the right to change the time barriers, before and during the event.

e) In case of a gale (local term for announcing that the weather will be rainy and windy), south wind (which causes the tide to rise), being the forecast justifiable for the temporary suspension of the race, the organization will neutralize the race for as long as necessary, and the participants must remain at the Support Bases until otherwise determined.

f) In case of neutralization, the start of the bases of support will be given all at the same time and without any bonus to the participants in the order of arrival.

g) After the race neutralization, if it is found that all safety conditions are not met, the race will be cancelled for those who were barred. In this case, there is no right to any award, classification, or refund of registration fees or any other type of compensation resulting from this decision

h) The athlete that is in a Support Base during the suspension of the race or partial or total cancellation, will not be allowed to start.

10.2 DROP BAGS

a) There will be 2 support bases to which one Drop Bag can be assigned for each. Participants must deliver at the check-in the bags provided by the organization (identified with the sticker provided by the Organization) with the change of clothes and other necessities. These bags will then be transported to the respective Support Bases and will be taken to the finish line after the end of the race.

b) At the end of the race, all Drop Bags will be returned to the participants.

c) At the Control Base, the athlete, in an orderly manner, without haste, will go to the Base Director and ask for the respective Drop Bag.

d) The content of the Drop Bags will not be verified, therefore, no complaints will be accepted.

e) It is recommended not to put any valuable objects.

f) Under no circumstances will forgotten Drop Bags be sent by mail.

ATTENTION

  • If you intend to rest in any of the bases, you must put with your Drop Bag a sleeping bag to the base where you intend to rest.
  • The organization will take only 1 sleeping bag, so make your rest strategy in order to use the sleeping bag in the base planned, because Drop Bags will not go to the other bases.
  • It is strictly forbidden to leave waste (gel containers, paper, organic waste, plastic packaging, etc.) on the course. Leave your rubbish at each food station.
  • The organization advises the runners to carry the waste to the next Base or Control Post. Take plastic bags to collect toilet paper. They should be used after an “emergency on the way”.
