Since 2011…

…this journey through the natural heritage of Serra da Estrela has been going on for 14 years! Over the years, we have covered ever greater distances, covering almost the entire Serra da Estrela Natural Park, the largest in Portugal. However, it is not only nature that inspires us, as history, people and traditions are also part of the journey. Along the way, we pass through small villages where it is possible to immerse yourself in the customs and authenticity of mountain life.

From 2025 this journey will be extended to new horizontes, further integrating natural, historical and human heritage. The Serra do Açor and Serra da Lousã are now part of the challenge.

It's more of everything. More nature, more tradition, with the Schist Villages, the Mountain Villages and the Historical Villages. However, there will also be more demands on a physical, technical and mental level.

It is a difficult challenge that requires preparation, attention and common sense. In adverse conditions, such as low temperatures, heavy rain or extreme heat, it can become even more challenging. In this context, endurance and respect for the mountains make all the difference. Those who do not respect Mother Nature will have little chance of being happy. She will be relentless with all those who challenge her disrespectfully.
